We have very close links with St John’s Church.
‘What a credit to the school’ was one of the many comments we had on Sunday 24th September, after leading the Church Harvest Service. Our children sang and read with the confidence and high standards that we can always rely on them for, as they explained our Harvest appeal. This year we are raising funds for our link school, Mmazami Primary in Tanzania. The church collection raised £314.00 which is a tremendous start to our fundraising. It was lovely to see so many families joining us and a huge thank you to all the children who gave their time to this.
Over 50s Group
At Christmas, we provide the entertainment for the Church ‘Over 50s’ Group Christmas dinner.
On Sunday 19th May 2013, children and parents were invited to recreate the traditional Whitsuntide walk to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the Diocese of Wakefield. The procession was led by Dr John Sentamu, Lord Archbishop of York. Meeting at St John’s Church, our choir along with parents and friends proudly marched up the hill, singing the hymn specially written for our community: Onward Christian Soldiers. Arriving at St Peter’s Church, we took part in the Pentecost service. Thank you to everyone who came to support the children and show just how much community spirit we have! Below is a short film of our contribution to the service, some photos of the event and a link to the Wakefield Express article.
Father Brian said, “It was heartening to see such a huge amount of people on the walk itself, and the youngsters did themselves and the school proud in the service”.
